A Heritage Wounded in War

To commemorate Museum and Cultural Heritage Day, a scientific and specialized seminar titled "Memory of Humanity in the Fires of War; From Cultural Heritage Laws to Field Realities" was held, with a lecture by Dr. Hossein Sedighian, a faculty member of the Department of History and Archaeology at Lorestan University.

According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, Dr. Sedighian, in this seminar, referred to various instances of destruction of cultural heritage sites in different countries.

The seminar discussed that some countries, and some governments, have destroyed cultural heritage sites due to their lack of belief in them, and another factor in the destruction is foreign military wars.

Dr. Sedighian explained that in the recent imposed war against Iran, unfortunately, some prominent cultural heritage sites of the country were destroyed due to military aggression.

In this seminar, the laws for the protection of cultural heritage during wars were explained.

Despite the fact that many laws have been enacted to protect cultural heritage sites, in practice, during wars, we witness the destruction of some cultural heritage sites.

In this seminar, the provisions of some conventions for the protection of cultural heritage were also explained.

The attendees also expressed their views.

The seminar was held in collaboration with the Vice-Chancellor for Cultural and Social Affairs of Lorestan University and the Faculty of Literature and Humanities.
