From October 12, 2025, to the Present / A Review of the Activities of the Ethics Committee in Biomedical Research at Lorestan University

The performance report of the Research Ethics Committee in Biomedical Research at Lorestan University, from the commencement of its official activities to date, has been published. This report indicates that the committee, relying on the scientific expertise of 13 faculty members and specialists, has not only reviewed and evaluated research proposals but has also taken effective steps to enhance researchers' awareness and implement educational initiatives.
According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, this committee operates under the supervision of the Research and Technology Vice-Presidency of the university and commenced its activities on October 12, 2025, with the authorization of the National Ethics Working Group.
Performance Statistics and Ethics Code Issuance:
The committee has reviewed referred proposals and issued ethics codes for eligible research through continuous meetings and the utilization of a screening committee.
Approval Statistics by Year:
_ Number of ethics codes issued in 2025: 37 cases.
_ Number of ethics codes issued in 2026 to date: 25 cases.

Educational Initiatives of the Research Ethics Committee at Lorestan University
In order to enhance the awareness of faculty members, researchers, and students regarding the principles of research ethics, a total of 4 specialized training workshops were conducted during 2025 and 2026.
Of these, 2 workshops titled "Fundamentals of Research Ethics" were taught by Dr. Farzad Zakian, and 2 workshops titled "Principles of Working with Laboratory Animals" were taught by Dr. Afshin Nazari.
The workshops on "Principles of Working with Laboratory Animals" were held in February 2026 and July 2026, respectively, with the relevant permits as follows:
_ Permit Number: 6603/700/D dated January 18, 2026.
_ Permit Number: 1004/700/D dated May 23, 2026.
These workshops were organized to promote the principles of research ethics, improve scientific integrity, and familiarize researchers with the ethical and specialized regulations in the field of research.
