Honoring the Pioneers of Veterinary Medicine in the Province, Hosted by Lorestan University

In a magnificent ceremony held at the Shahid Soleimani Hall of Lorestan University on National Veterinarian Day, veteran practitioners, activists, and some retired faculty members in the veterinary field of Lorestan province, from both public and private sectors, were honored.
According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, this ceremony, held on Tuesday, October 6th, with the presence of senior managers and specialists in this field, provided a platform for a dialogue-based discussion on the vital role of veterinarians in community health.
Honoring the Service Providers in the Province's Veterinary Sector
In the main part of this ceremony, a group of veterinary activists and practitioners in Lorestan province were honored.
Among them, two veteran practitioners and retired faculty members of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Lorestan University, "Dr. Ali Sukhtezari" and "Dr. Mohammad Hossein Gharoni," were honored.
Furthermore, Dr. Hassan Nayebzadeh, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and a number of experts and staff of this faculty, including Dr. Abbas Pirzadeh, Gholam Hossein Zamani-Chegini, Amin Azizi-pour, and Mansour Ghamarnia, were appreciated for their years of service in this field.
Emphasis on Food Security and National Health
In this ceremony, Dr. Mohsen Abbasi, Deputy for Support of Lorestan University, in his speech, while congratulating this national day, emphasized the strategic role of veterinary science in ensuring the country's food security and maintaining the health of the human and animal food chain.
He noted that veterinary expertise is one of the cornerstones of public health in society.
Subsequently, Dr. Haddad Shafieian, Director General of Veterinary Medicine of Lorestan Province, referring to the economic importance of livestock in the province, stated: "Given the population of over four million head of small ruminants and over 120,000 head of large ruminants in Lorestan, safeguarding the health of these assets plays a key role in household economies and regional food security."
He also emphasized strengthening precise oversight of the livestock production and distribution cycle and the importance of disease prevention.
Dr. Shafieian urged students to enhance the practical and skill-based aspects of their veterinary studies, in addition to the theoretical knowledge acquired at the university.
Elucidation of Sensitive Economic Conditions and the Importance of Food Security
Also at this ceremony, Eng. Namdar Sayadi, Head of the Agricultural Jihad Organization of the Province, referring to the sensitive economic conditions and sanctions, emphasized the role of national resilience in production and economy, and the importance of self-sufficiency in the livestock sector.
In another part of his speech, Eng. Sayadi elaborated on the importance of veterinary medicine's impact on safeguarding the country's food security.
At the end of the ceremony, after awarding prizes through a lottery to a number of participants, the necessity of strengthening the practical skills of veterinary students was emphasized, so that the future generation of specialists can enter the field of service with high practical capabilities, in addition to academic knowledge.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Lorestan University, the Directorate General of Veterinary Medicine of the Province, and the Veterinary Medical Council of the Province jointly organized this ceremony.
