The Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology of Lorestan University and the new CEO of the Provincial Water Authority, in a joint meeting, outlined a roadmap for expanding bilateral cooperation to solve the province's practical water issues based on the integration of "Education," "Research," and "Application."

According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, a joint bilateral cooperation meeting was held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with the presence of Dr. Hossein Hatami, Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology of Lorestan University, Eng. Alireza Kakavand, the new CEO of the Provincial Water Authority of Lorestan, Reza Asareh, Head of the Industry and Entrepreneurship Relations Group of Lorestan University, Eng. Zohrab, Head of Research at the Lorestan Provincial Water Authority, and Dr. Hassan Torabipoudeh, a faculty member of the Water Engineering Department of the Faculty of Agriculture at Lorestan University.

In this meeting, Dr. Hossein Hatami, Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology of Lorestan University, explained some of the most important capacities and potentials of Lorestan University in terms of science and elite talent.

Dr. Hatami stated: "Lorestan University can engage in scientific and research collaborations with the Provincial Water Authority in challenges related to the water sector, resource management, and consumption management."

He emphasized the continuous connection between Lorestan University and industry, explaining: "Lorestan University has previously implemented various plans and projects with the Provincial Water Authority."

Dr. Hossein Hatami, on behalf of the President of Lorestan University, congratulated Eng. Kakavand on his appointment as the new CEO of the Provincial Water Authority of Lorestan and expressed hope that the cooperation agreement would be renewed with the presence of the CEO of the Provincial Water Authority at Lorestan University.

In this meeting, Eng. Alireza Kakavand, the new CEO of the Provincial Water Authority of Lorestan, while expressing his pleasure at the holding of such meetings, stated: "We must strive to expand bilateral scientific, research, and investigative collaborations."

Kakavand noted: "The Provincial Water Authority of Lorestan is always receptive to university researchers and scholars."

Dr. Hassan Torabipoudeh, a faculty member of the Water Engineering Department of the Faculty of Agriculture at Lorestan University, also stated: "The Water Engineering Department of the Faculty of Agriculture at Lorestan University, relying on its scientific and research capacities, can play an active role in matters related to the province's water industry."

The following points were agreed upon in this meeting:

_ Implementation of off-campus projects related to the Provincial Water Authority of Lorestan.

_ Utilization of faculty expertise for conducting sabbatical leave courses at the Provincial Water Authority.

_ Conducting practical workshops and providing necessary training for the staff of the Provincial Water Authority in the form of in-service training, by specialized water experts and researchers from Lorestan University on the topic of water security as a critical issue, with the support of the Provincial Corps and under the budget of the Scientific Jihad for Defense Industries project.

Furthermore, four important areas, including water, environment, artificial intelligence, and civil engineering, were agreed upon by both parties for cooperation and the definition of joint research endeavors.

At the end of the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology of Lorestan University expressed gratitude to the Provincial Water Authority for their collaborative practical efforts.

It is worth mentioning that the outcome of such collaborations has led to the Provincial Water Authority of Lorestan being recognized as one of the top collaborating organizations with Lorestan University, from the perspective of the Office of Community and Industry Relations of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology.
