Lorestan University Beyond Borders / Enrollment of Over 600 International Students

The Head of the International Scientific Cooperation Group at Lorestan University announced that over 600 international students are studying at the university, stating: "Lorestan University has been systematically pursuing the admission of fee-paying international students since 2018 and is following the development of scientific cooperation with universities and scientific centers of various countries."

Dr. Manoochehr Nasri, in an interview with the correspondent of ISNA News Agency, Lorestan Province, stated: "Lorestan University has considered developing scientific cooperation with foreign countries for years, and based on this, since 2018, by systematically admitting fee-paying international students from Nigeria, Ivory Coast, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Malaysia, and Iraq, it has taken firm steps towards achieving its internationalization goals."

He added: "Given the interest of Iraqi applicants in studying at Lorestan University, Iraqi students currently constitute the majority of the university's international student body."

The Head of the International Scientific Cooperation Group at Lorestan University, stating that over 600 international students are currently studying at the university, continued: "The majority of these students are pursuing their Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees."

Dr. Nasri, referring to Lorestan University's simultaneous attention to quantitative and qualitative aspects in the development of international activities, said: "The university is pursuing the development of international activities in line with the goals set by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, and in this regard, it has simultaneously focused on scientific and cultural development."

He pointed to the establishment of the Persian Language Teaching Center for Non-Persian Speakers (AZFA) at Lorestan University and stated: "This center has been launched with the aim of a more targeted movement towards cultural promotion and development alongside scientific development."

The Head of the International Scientific Cooperation Group at Lorestan University further clarified: "All international students undergo a preliminary Persian language training course before commencing their studies, and they also complete advanced Persian language courses during their studies."

Dr. Nasri, referring to Lorestan University's facilities for international students, said: "The university has dedicated dormitory complexes for the accommodation of these students, and a guesthouse has been designated to serve their families."

He continued: "In addition to these facilities, transportation systems and student and public cafeterias also provide services to international students."

The Head of the International Scientific Cooperation Group at Lorestan University emphasized that the university's international activities are not limited to attracting foreign students, stating: "Lorestan University has always moved towards university internationalization by signing scientific cooperation memorandums with universities in Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, India, South Africa, and Afghanistan."

Dr. Nasri identified the exchange of faculty and students with various countries and the execution of joint scientific and research projects with foreign countries as other primary programs of the university in the field of international activities.

Regarding Lorestan University's future plans for the development of international activities, he said: "Various operational plans are being developed to expand these activities, including the follow-up of existing international memorandums to the stage of implementation, the conclusion of new memorandums and cooperation agreements with other countries, and the exchange of faculty and students with reputable international universities and research institutes."

The Head of the International Scientific Cooperation Group at Lorestan University added: "Participation and involvement in international scientific activities, including reputable scientific conferences and journals, are among other programs that Lorestan University is pursuing."

Nasri further pointed to Lorestan University's capacities for developing international scientific cooperation, stating: "The university's scientific capacities, the presence of prominent scientific figures, highly equipped central laboratories, and the diversity of academic disciplines are among the most important capacities of the university for developing scientific cooperation with reputable international centers."

He noted: "The geographical location and attractive nature of Lorestan Province, its natural and historical sites, tourist attractions, as well as the province's natural capacities and God-given resources are other capacities that the university can leverage to advance scientific and international cooperation."

The Head of the International Scientific Cooperation Group at Lorestan University emphasized: "Utilizing the scientific, cultural, natural, and tourism capacities of the province, alongside the development of university interactions, can contribute to the greater introduction of Lorestan University and the province on the international stage."
