Report on the Study Leave Opportunity for a Lorestan University Faculty Member to Serve the Country's Aquaculture Industry
Jul 15, 2026
The seminar for the defense of the sabbatical leave in industry, titled "Investigating the Role of Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl)-Based Sanitizing Solution as a Disinfectant in Fish Farming," was held on July 14, 2026, at the Faculty of Basic Sciences, Lorestan University.
The researcher implementing the sabbatical leave was Dr. Golnaz Sayadzadeh, a faculty member of the Biology Department at Lorestan University.
In this seminar, the objectives, implementation process, and results of the project were explained, along with the achievements gained from its execution under the actual conditions of fish farms.
The results of this period indicate that the hypochlorous acid-based solution, due to its high efficacy in reducing microbial load and maintaining fish health, has significant potential to replace conventional disinfectants in the aquaculture industry.
This period was implemented through a joint collaboration between Lorestan University and Gohar Shafa Company, and its results have been published in the scientific journal "Aquaculture Science."
The organization of this meeting provided an opportunity to present the research achievements of the sabbatical leave, examine the scientific and practical dimensions of the project, and exchange views on the potential for developing university-industry collaborations in the field of aquaculture.
