Dr. Farhad Nazarian-Firoozabadi, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Lorestan University, announced the renovation and development of the livestock unit's infrastructure within this faculty over the past two years. Through measures such as increasing the capacity of livestock from 6 to 25 heads and implementing an automatic milking system, the daily milk production in this unit has reached an average of 500 kilograms. These changes, in addition to strengthening the educational and research infrastructure, have been undertaken in line with the university's revenue generation and employment creation objectives.
According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, Dr. Nazarian-Firoozabadi emphasized the necessity of updating infrastructure and stated: "The livestock unit of the Faculty of Agriculture, which was part of the university's older facilities, has undergone renovation and modernization in the past two years. With the upgrade of equipment and resource management, in addition to increasing the number of Holstein cows, the milking system has also been upgraded from a worn-out semi-automatic system to a fully automatic system with a capacity of eight milking units."
He added: "Equipping this unit with a tractor and establishing emergency power facilities are among the other infrastructural measures that have now transformed this complex into an efficient semi-industrial livestock farm for Lorestan University."
The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Lorestan University elaborated on the functions of this unit, stating: "In addition to production and job creation, this livestock farm provides direct educational and research services to Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine students. Furthermore, by utilizing the production chain, meat is also produced within the capacity of the livestock farm."
Dr. Nazarian-Firoozabadi concluded by highlighting health standards, noting: "All maintenance and feed supply operations are conducted under the supervision of a private sector contractor and with the strict oversight of veterinarians and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to ensure all health standards are met. Additionally, for the convenience of university members, faculty members, staff, and students can purchase the milk produced by this center at a reasonable and lower price."
