Lorestan University's International Scientific Brilliance with the Presence of 10 Researchers in the Top Two Percent of World Scientists

Oct 09, 2026

In an international scientific achievement that demonstrates the effectiveness and transnational capacity of Lorestan University, the names of 10 researchers from this university have been included in the latest list of the top 2% of world scientists (2025).

According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, based on the report submitted by the Research and Technology Vice-Chancellor of the university, in the latest version of the World's Top 2% Scientists list, 10 researchers from Lorestan University have been ranked among the world's top researchers based on scientific and citation indicators for the year 2025.

This list, which is compiled based on data from the Scopus database and using the composite C-score index, is one of the most recognized systems for evaluating research impact internationally.

In this evaluation, in addition to the number of citations, the h-index, hm-index, patterns of scientific collaboration, and the author's position in articles are considered in calculating the impact of researchers.

Based on the 2025 data, the names of Lorestan University researchers included in this list, in alphabetical order, are:

1_ Dr. Hamzeh Amiri (Biology, Faculty of Basic Sciences).

2_ Dr. Mohsen Izadi (Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering).

3_ Dr. Hakimeh Teimouri Nia (Nanochemistry, Faculty of Chemistry).

4_ Dr. Ahmad Jahanbakhshi (Biosystems Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture).

5_ Dr. Amir Hamzeh Haghiabi (Water Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture).

6_ Dr. Saba Daliran (Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry).

7_ Dr. Masoud Alirezaei (Veterinary Basic Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine).

8_ Dr. Ali Farmani (Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering).

9_ Dr. Rahim Maleknia (Forestry, Faculty of Natural Resources).

10_ Dr. Ya'qub Mansourpanah (Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry).

In the analysis of the indicators for this group, the average number of citations, excluding self-citations, for Lorestan University researchers has been reported as 377.5 citations.

This indicator reflects the extent to which researchers' scientific works are referenced by other researchers and, along with other indicators, is considered a component of measuring research impact.

Furthermore, the average h-index of Lorestan University researchers on this list is 10.

Another indicator presented in this evaluation is the hm-index, which moderates the effect of co-authorship in assessing research impact.

The average hm-index for Lorestan University researchers on the 2025 list is 38.5.

This indicator, along with the h-index and the number of citations, provides more precise information about the impact of researchers in situations where articles have multiple authors.

One of the primary indicators in determining researchers' standing on this list is the c-score, or composite index.

The c-score, by focusing on citation impact, considers not only the number of citations but also the co-authorship pattern and the researcher's position among the authors of the articles.

The average c-score, excluding self-citations, for Lorestan University researchers on the 2025 list has been reported as 574.2.

In another section of the information provided in this list, the extent of self-citation has also been considered.

Based on the data related to Lorestan University researchers, the average proportion of "self-citation" is 11.3 percent.

Providing citation indicators with and without "self-citation" allows for the consideration of the impact of citations originating from outside the researchers' own body of work.

In the calculation method of this database, "self-citation" is determined by the presence of at least one of the authors of the cited article among the authors of the citing article.

The list of the top 2% of world scientists is compiled based on Scopus data and uses a composite index to rank researchers.

According to the official explanations of the database, researchers are evaluated based on their c-score, and the criteria for inclusion in the list include being among the top 100,000 scientists based on this index or being in the top 2% of their respective scientific subfield.

In this evaluation, researchers are categorized into 20 scientific fields and 174 subfields, so that their scientific standing within their specialized area is also taken into account.

The presence of 10 researchers from Lorestan University on the 2025 list signifies the university's scientific and research capacity in producing impactful and internationally recognized research.

The significance of this presence becomes even more apparent when considering that this evaluation is based on standardized citation indicators and Scopus data, with the aim of measuring the impact of researchers across various scientific fields and subfields.

The inclusion of university researchers' names on this list can also highlight Lorestan University's capacity for expanding international scientific collaborations, increasing research interactions, broadening scientific cooperation networks, and strengthening the university's position in the global arena of science and technology.
