Abstract of the Published Article:
_ Methodology:
In this study, for the first time, John Nash's game theory, network data envelopment analysis with common inputs, and fuzzy theory have been integrated into a unified framework for evaluating the sustainability of road transport systems.
In this research, the sustainability of the road transport system has been evaluated in two stages (first stage: energy efficiency, and second stage: economic value-added efficiency).
Since increasing the efficiency of one stage leads to a decrease in the efficiency of another stage, game theory has been used to model non-cooperative (leader-follower) and cooperative interactions, which can extract the maximum and minimum efficiency frontiers.
To accommodate imprecise data, fuzzy extensions are linearized using triangular fuzzy numbers and the a-cut approach.
Findings:
This study indicates that non-cooperative strategies result in uneven efficiency outcomes in a complex multi-stage system and harm the overall performance of the system.
Conversely, the proposed cooperative game theory-based data envelopment analysis model, by adjusting input, intermediate, and output variables, can enhance the overall system efficiency while ensuring minimum acceptable efficiency levels for each of the energy and economic stages.
The sensitivity of the efficiency and ranking performed in this study to data uncertainty highlights the need for fuzzy modeling in transport sustainability assessments.
The sensitivity analysis conducted in this study confirms the stability of efficiency scores and rankings amidst data variations, thereby enhancing the reliability of the results for managerial applications.
